Special Cop in Action, A / Italia a mano armata (1976)

Now this is Eurocrime as it should be! Incredible car chases, fist fights, a rooftop chase, gun battles and an angsty Maurizio Merli raging against the constraints of the system. This is Eurocrime from a time when the genre was in full swing and turning out some of the most memorable titles.


Merli here plays Commissario Betti in one of three outings as that character. The others being Roma violenta and Napoli violenta making up an incredible crime triptych.


Despite doing some bird in pokey Betti manages to take on kidnappers and bank robbers while finding time to rehabilitate a pickpocket and even take down a Mr Big played by none other than John Saxon. The feature is raw, gritty, violent and recommended.
