Syndicate Sadists / Il giustiziere sfida la città (1975)

Tomas Milian saw the potential in the Rambo story and tried to get it made into a film. He did not succeed. The film was made later as a Stallone vehicle and it did pretty well too. Later the Italians did pick up on the Rambo thing with Blastfighter but had producers initially recognised the potential that Milian had then First Blood could well have been an Italian production.

Tomas Milian nevertheless did get to use the Rambo moniker for his lead character in the Spaghetti Western inspired revenge and vigilante film Syndicate Sadists. This makes Syndicate Sadists a sort of Rambo In Milan.

Beginning with a stranger riding into town on a motorcycle Syndicate Sadists reworks the idea of A Fistful Of Dollars as Rambo plays off two warring mob families against each other to before riding off into the sunset.

This crime film from Umberto Lenzi features a pretty strong supporting cast with a star role from Joseph Cotten and assorted criminals including Luciano Catenacci, Luciano Pigozzi and Antonio Casale who reinforces the links with the man with no name.
