Death Carries A Cane / Passi di danza su una lama di rasoio (1973)

2.5 out of 5

Death Carries A Cane is an Italian and Spanish co-production from Maurizio Pradeaux.

Not the most stylish of giallo by a country mile but despite less than exceptional killings, a pretty formulaic dance school plus fedora wearing and cutthroat razor wielding killer the story itself is not too bad and the original score from Roberto Pregadio is quite nice if seemingly a little familiar.

The English language title refers to the killer who carries a walking stick and as expected there are a number of red herrings featuring people with canes or a limp.

The title does suggest that this is a Luciano Ercoli film but it is not. It does however feature Nieves Navarro aka Susan Scott and incidentally Luciano Rossi. Giallo fans should enjoy this film but would recognise that is merely an average genre entry rather than one of the landmark titles.
