In The Eye Of The Hurricane / El ojo del huracán (1971)

3.5 out of 5

A Spanish and Italian co-production. Directed by José María Forqué, a Spanish director, In The Eye Of The Hurricane casts Jean Sorel in a lead giallo role for which he is perfectly suited.

A love affair is not what it seems and is merely a pretext for a terrifying house invasion when a rich woman lets a stranger into her life. This no doubt would sound familiar to those who have seen Umberto Lenzi's Orgasmo aka Paranoia. This is pretty much a retelling of the same story with a few motivational differences.

Argentinian actress Analía Gadé is great in what would be the Carroll Baker role.

Not a black gloved killer and fedora style giallo but a film that would fit well alongside the sort of movies Lenzi was making around this period. Making the best of the Côte d'Azur locations this enjoyable if somewhat overlooked thriller is worthy of a look.
