Secret of Seagull Island, The (1981)

2.5 out of 5

The Secret of Seagull Island is an Italian and British co-production that was made as a television series and released as a movie. The shorter version is the one under consideration.

Even with a theatrical release weighing in well under two hours it has to be said that Seagull Island still feels just like an early 1980s made for British television thriller series. It is bland flat and really fails to live up to the promise of the title which itself is pretty good, reminds on of a Three Investigators story and promises hell of a lot more that what in reality is on offer here.

A giallo collector would probably want to see this one, maybe once, but it was no more exciting than extended episode of the UK television series Shoestring starring Trevor Eve.

Not too bad, not too good either. This is more of a vanilla than a giallo.
