Flower With Petals Of Steel, The / Il fiore dai petali d'acciaio (1973)

Gianni Garko is Dr. Andrea Valenti. When the doctor, in a fit of rage, kills his nymphomaniac lover it could well be an accident. Disposing of the body to avoid scandal on the other hand is no accident. This creates all sorts of problems for Andrea as does a witness lurking in the shadows as the cadaver is ground up.

By overlooking the little things such as a car left outside the house he gains the attention of the police and an old flame played by Carroll Baker is on the case. He faces both blackmail and imminent arrest.

In some respects a film with slight echoes of Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime And Punishment it also has on top of the straightforward process of investigation and revelation a little twist that may just turn the whole experience on it's head.

Not a gloved killer or fedora in this movie but nevertheless a reasonably interesting psychological thriller from a twenty nine year old Gianfranco Piccioli.
