Killers Are Our Guests, The / Gli assassini sono nostri ospiti (1974)

5.0 out of 5

Everything comes together perfectly in the Vincenzo Rigo directed film The Killers Are Our Guests. The story is first class, the performances excellent, the Roberto Rizzo score is excellent and appropriate. The film works so well on pretty much every level.

While the film is often listed as a giallo it is more of a house invasion movie along the lines of Cold Eyes Of Fear or the latter segment of Night Train Murders. After a series of mishaps during a jewelry store robbery a gang of bandits are in need of a doctor and this is the cue for an extended house based hostage segment.

Giuseppe Castellano is suitably thuggish as a bandit. Anthony Steffen and Livia Cerini are great as the hostage couple. The interaction between all maintains a high level of tension and drama.

This is a real must see for exploitation film fans and the ending has a twist to die for. Highly recommended.
