Oedipus orca (1977)

2.0 out of 5

Oedipus orca, a sequel, picks up where the original La orca leaves off with former Playboy playmate Rena Niehaus being returned to her family after spending a month as a hostage of, among others, Blackie out of Night Train Murders.

The sequel is a pretty pointless exercise that serves, in the main, to impose an unnecessary layer of complexity onto the original kidnap movie as the angst ridden teen makes sense of her ordeal and spends the rest of the movie trying to figure out just who her real father is. Since this is a family drama it is difficult to figure out to whom it could possibly appeal as it is too interwoven with footage of the original movie to stand alone and too different from the original to be a companion piece likely to appeal to the same core audience.

There is, nevertheless, ample displays of breastage as Niehaus once again prominently displays her Hugh Hefner endorsed norks for those who did not get enough of that kind of thing in the original movie. An extended abattoir sequence could only be for exploitation shocks and the ending, while violent, seems a bizarre way to end this sexually charged soap opera.
