Tweedledum as Aviator / Robinet aviatore (1911)

3.5 out of 5

Moptopped madness from Marcel Perez, who wears a hat that makes him look like a Rubber Soul era Beatle, in this bizarre comedy as the witnessing of a biplane flight is the cue for a journey above a city skyline in a large helicopter fish inspired contraption that emits billows of smoke from her mechanical chops while the propeller driven piscine plane proceeds to wreak havoc on buildings and people below.

Some hefty stunt work sees Perez and a group of extras plummet through floor upon floor of a building bringing rubble and dust with them upon their descent.

At times reminiscent of A Voyage Around a Star, and brief in running time, the jaw-dropping premise is such that Robinet aviatore cannot fail to entertain. Good fun from start to finish
