Ghosthouse / La casa 3 (1988)

3.0 out of 5

Under the title of La Casa 3, this Filmirage haunted house shocker from Umberto Lenzi was released as a third Evil Dead film in Italy where the successful first 2 Evil Dead installments were released as La Casa and La Casa 2. In Ghosthouse, the detection of an eerie, albeit cheesy, radio signal leads the story’s main characters to an abandoned house where a little girl’s, vengeful and very violent, ghost and evil clown doll await.

The film contains a good deal of bad movie magic, but unfortunately suffers at times from slow pacing and a lack of brilliant plot direction. Nonetheless, viewers able to see past Ghosthouse’s flaws will likely enjoy a haunting carnival-like music score, a spooky New England house, and an abundance of entertaining and creative gory deaths that await the film’s characters. As a plus, the house used in this movie was the same used in Lucio Fulci’s House by the Cemetery.
