Lady Medic, The / La dottoressa del distretto militare (1976)

2.5 out of 5

The ever-lovely Edwige Fenech again lights up the screen in Nando Cicero's sex comedy. The first in a trilogy of military-based shenanigans, The Lady Medic follows the escapades of a motley crew of conscripts, seemingly escaped from Carry-on Sergeant.

Although she gets top billing, Ms Fenech does not appear in the first half of the film. Fortunately, there is enough scatological humour to hold the viewer's interest until then. A bizarre sub-plot concerning an unscrupulous doctor's attempts to obtain a contract with an American company seems tacked on, and some of the grosser scenes do little to add to the erotic atmosphere.

All in all, The Lady Medic is for completists only, but any film starring an actress of extraordinary magnitude like Ms Fenech, cannot be totally dismissed.
