Umberto Lenzi and Lucio Fulci directed two movies each for an Italian TV anthology show called House of Doom but none were originally aired being deemed too violent by the censors.
While most Italian film fans would agree that Lenzi was a much better director of crime films than horror he certainly doesn't do much to change that view with this film.
Without the visual flair and talent of Fulci, Lenzi doesn't achieve very much with his limited TV budget. Except for those that are shocked by a couple of badly made papier-mâché heads there's very little creepy atmosphere on show and even less gore. There is a nice twist ending but by this time it's too late to save proceedings.
One for die hard Lenzi fans only.
