Warbus (1986)

3.5 out of 5

Surely it would be impossible for anyone to be disappointed with Warbus given that the film, from start to finish, delivers pretty much everything suggested in the title as the Vietnam war is waged from the back of a yellow school bus.

From an opening mortar siege to a closing exploding compound the entire film consists of a disaster movie type ensemble travelling from place to place and battle to battle as hut after hut and compound after compound explode in a fury of dramatic pyrotechnics.

Warbus, directed by Ferdinando Baldi of Afyon oppio fame, is very much like a mix of Bruno Mattei and Antonio Margheriti type jungle actioner with a little of the over-the-top combat of Inglorious Bastards or Five for Hell thrown in for good measure. Great fun from start to finish.
