If Sylvester Stallone or Chuck Norris had hired Antonio Margheriti to direct their respective 80's Vietnam movies then no doubt the results would've ended up something akin to this. Margheriti impressively gets every ounce of the small budget up on screen and makes sure there isn't more than a moments respite before the next explosion, booby trap, mutilated body, machine gun battle and bloody carnage is thrown up on screen amidst the lovely back drop of the Philippines where the film was shot. This is pure B movie exploitation fare, definitely more Rambo than Platoon, but was actually paraded in Italy as an unofficial sequel to Michael Cimino's The Deer Hunter when released in 1980.
An impressive who's who of Italian genre stars all show up to support David Warbeck including Tisa Farrow, John Steiner, Bobby Rhodes, Tony King and Massimo Vanni. Franco Micalizzi delivers another outstanding funk score but obviously didn't realise disco music didn't exist in the early 70's!
