Freckles / Sommersprossen (1968)

This biopic of pre-war bank robbers Sandweg and Velte tries it's best to go for the whole romp and caper type thing but in practice it results in a lot of running around near identical fields and nondescript forests to quirky jazz for what seems like a very very long time.

Certainly this is no Bonnie and Clyde and even the hairy sex interludes that are added to perk up interest are either obscured or shot through what appears to be a thick dollop of axle grease and do little to break up the monotony.

William Berger and Helmut Förnbacher star in this German and Italian co-production and it is all about as much fun as a bad dose of Crime Boss. It seems to go on longer than the Weimar Republic with the final credits providing welcome relief.
