Too Beautiful to Die / Sotto il vestito niente 2 (1988)

2.0 out of 5

Too Beautiful to Die, a sequel to Nothing Underneath, set in the world of modelling and during the production of a rock video for Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Warriors of the Wasteland and is a garish, neon-lit affair that attempts to hit the yuppie sweet spot with warehouse conversion apartments, oversize shoulder pads, fancy cars and even some speedboat action.

Despite the film being a passable enough whodunnit the whole affair is likely to be little more than an exercise in completism for giallotistas once all the bigger fish have been well and truly fried. However, fans of blue tinged and backlit smoke or patent leather and hairspray may dig this as will, probably, those who think Nine and a Half Weeks is sophisticated or believe that Trip With The Teacher's Zalman King was onto something when he unleashed Red Shoe Diaries on the world.

The soundtrack includes Toto, Huey Lewis and the News and the sound of Mario Bava spinning in his grave.
