Double Hour, The / La doppia ora (2009)

3.0 out of 5

Extremely intelligent and manipulative thriller about a woman haunted by crime and death in a hallucinogenic world which seems to be drowning her at times. At least the way director turns the whole narrative into one merry-go-round of mirrors, flashbacks, flash-forwards, and other fragments of narrative. Hitchcock would be envious. Most of its pieces wouldn’t work if the actors weren’t so good submerging into all the muck. Not so much as a blink of a character’s eye appears untruthful, despite all the film’s attempts to trick the viewer into thinking otherwise. So dishonest, the movie almost mocks the audience but luckily is so well-crafted and entertaining, the enjoyment level is kept high.
